Blindside to someone, two words come to mind; COMPLETELY INSANE! (in a good way
of course) Blindside comes from Sweden, and are the masters of Swedish hardcore.
They have a pyscho intense live show that is utterly amazing. The frontman
Christian Lindskog jumps and flails his body around the stage in such a brutal
frenzy that one can't help but say "dang". I remember the first time I saw
Blindside, Christian impaled himself so violently against the microphone stand I
was sure he had to have broken something, but he was unphased by it all.
Blindside's intensity on stage translates very well to their records also. With
their self-titled debut on Solidstate Records, they made a name for themselves, and gained much
attention from not only the Christian scene but the secular scene also. A lot
of people were impressed, as well as pleasantly surprised with this Swedish
hardcore band. After just a few times of listening to Blindside's debut cd, I
found myself really getting into songs like "empty box", "superman", and
"invert". Then in January 2000 "A Thought Crushed My Mind" was finally released
here in America. Blindside's solidstate debut was really good, but with
"A Thought Crushed My Mind" they took my amazement to a new level. Everything
on this cd was done better than their first one; the production, the
musicianship, the vocals, drumming, etc. The use of a string section in some of
the songs really added a key element to the cd. Blindside has been continually
broadening their musical styles and they just get better everytime I hear them.
Their video for "King of the Closet" has been getting aiplay on MTV Europe and
other European music channels. Blindside is really blowing up and hopefully they
continue to get bigger and better. Blindside is a truly unique and innovative
band. They have taken hardcore where it has never gone before.
The only question is what will they do next?
